Men's Formalwear Defined
And you thought only women's wear needed definitions! Below are definitions
of men's formalwear that may be helpful as you and your groom consider the men's
attire for the day.
- Cutaway or Morning Coat: A very formal jacket, the cutaway is
similar to the tailcoat but has just one long tapered tail in back.
- Stroller Coat: A semilformal jacket, the stroller coat is cut
similar to the tuxedo but is intended for daytime wear.
- Tails/Tailcoat: The most formal coat, the tailcoat is short in the
front and, not surprisingly, has two long tails in the back.
- Tuxedo: A short, formal jacket, the tuxedo is typically worn after
6:00pm. It may be either single or double-breasted.
