Neckline Options for Your Wedding Dress
As with other aspects of your wedding dress, you have a number of options for
the style of your neckline. In choosing your neckline, consider those styles
that might be most flattering to your figure.
Following are definitions of the most common neckline styles.
Boat, Bateau, or Scoop: Neckline gently follows curve of
collarbone to tip of shoulders in front and same in back.
High: Collar just brushes the chin.
Jewel: Fabric encircles natural neckline.
Off-the-shoulder: Neckline falls below shoulders and hovers
above bustline (dress has sleeves).
Queen Anne: Neckline rises high at nape/back of neck, sculpts
low in front either in sweetheart shape or to outline a bare yoke.
Queen Elizabeth: High collar stands up in back but comes to a
closed V in front.
Sabrina: High, slightly curved neck.
Square: shaped like half a square in front; may be same in back
or high and straight.
Sweetheart: Front is shaped like top half of a heart; back is
higher and straight across from shoulder to shoulder.
