Wedding Gown Sleeve Styles
As you think about the gown of your dreams, you will want to consider sleeve
styles that are most flattering to your figure.
Following is a list of style definitions to help you in your search.
Bishop: Fuller in lower forearm, gathered at wrist into wide
cuff.
Cap: Just covers the top of the arm.
Capelet: Falls several inches below elbow in soft flare.
Dolman: Extends from armhole so large that it creates a
cape-like effect; often fitted at wrist.
Fitted: Narrow and long.
Gibson: Full at shoulder and fitted at wrist.
Leg-of-Mutton (or Gigot): Wide and rounded at shoulder,
tapering to a snug fit on lower arm.
Melon: Extravagently rounded from shoulder to elbow.
Peek-a-Boo: sheer, puffed sleeve with different fabric showing
through from underneath.
Poet: Pleated at shoulder, very full to cuff.
Pointed: Long, fitted, falls into point blow wrist and over top
of hand.
Puff: Short, gathered into gentler rounded shape usually above
the elbow.
Three-Quarter: Ends between elbow and wrist.
