Assuming you will have tables at your reception, whether it's a sit-down dinner or not, you will probably want some type of flowers or other centerpiece as decoration. Work with your florist on this; centerpieces should be low enough for guests to see each other across the table. If there is a fireplace or staircase, you might want to decorate these with garlands or flowers as well. While some churches ask that you leave your flowers as donations to the church, other ceremony sites will allow you to remove them after the service, in which case the flowers can do double duty as decorations at the reception.

Working with the caterers and florist together to coordinate linens and flowers can result in a well-coordinated, striking atmosphere at the reception.
