Pew (or Within the Ribbon) Cards
Pew cards are used in instances where you would like to specify certain
individuals to sit in the front pews at the ceremony. These are included with
the wedding invitation and generally direct the guest to present the card at the
church (official name) on the wedding date. At the bottom of the pew card will
be handwritten (or calligraphied) the specific pew number for that guest or the
phrase "within the ribbon." This will signify to ushers that the guest be seated
in a particular pew or in one that is "within the ribbons" set up by the bride
and groom prior to the ceremony.
