Prenuptial Agreement
As many couples go into marriage today having already established careers and some degree of financial means, prenuptial agreements are drawn up much more frequently than in earlier times. A prenuptial agreement clearly states what each individual brings to the wedding, and outlines what would be done with these assets if the wedding is dissolved in the future. From a legal standpoint, the prenuptial agreement may supersede state laws in divorce proceedings, however, it is an optional agreement and there is no guarantee it will be enforced. The best approach for you and your fiance, if you choose to establish a prenuptial agreement, is to see a lawyer with expertise in this area in the state in which you plan to live following the wedding.
