Ways to Involve Friends and Family

There are a myriad of ways to involve people in the wedding, separate from the wedding party itself. If you would like to include more people but not have an enormous wedding party, consider asking individuals to do the following:

  • serve as greeters for the ceremony and/or reception
  • do a reading
  • lead prayers or songs
  • hold a pole of the chuppah in a Jewish ceremony
  • read one of seven blessings in a Jewish ceremony
  • serve as a wedding coordinator
  • assist with the behind the scenes aspects of the day

These roles can be tailored to the interests and strengths of those individuals you want to involve. While the wedding party in many ways is the most visible role for family and friends, many people truly want to be involved in any way that is meaningful to the bride and groom.
